Devonport Royal Secondary School Team Challenge 2025 Monday March 3rd

On behalf of the Devonport Royal Swimming Association, we are inviting you to enter teams in the Annual Schools Gala 4 x 50m freestyle relays (4 swimmers/team).

The DRSA schools gala is designed to be fun, a celebration of Swimming, rather than a demonstration of absolute performance, and we wish for it to remain competitive for all schools that enter. We are very keen to provide an opportunity for youngsters to have the experience of competition in a friendly atmosphere. We hope the children will enjoy the experience and that it will encourage them to take up swimming as a sport.

With this in mind, swimmers who have qualified or been invited (irrespective of whether they have competed or not) to any 2024/5 British or National Championships, with the exception of Para swimmers, are prohibited from entering the competition. Please submit a named team sheet, including any reserves, coupled with their school year to the Chair of DRSA DRSAchair@hotmail.com

by 28th February. Any teams that are found to disregard this rule will be disqualified and the school will not be able to enter the same gala in 2026.

A parent or teacher will need to be present with the teams. There will be plenty of help from the DRSA Red, T Shirt wearing volunteers! The event is to be held at the Plymouth Life Centre on Monday 3rd March 2025. We thank the Plymouth Life Centre for supporting this event.

You are eligible to send up to 2 teams of Boys and 2 teams of Girls OR 2 mixed teams. The idea of the alternative mixed teams is to encourage more schools to participate, especially smaller schools, these teams will consist of 2 boys and 2 girls.  It is not possible to enter both mixed and single sex teams.

You can enter a team in each age range, or both in the younger age range. So you could enter:

One Boys Year groups 7-9 and One Boys Year Groups 10-11,

OR two Boys Year groups 7-9 and no 10+ year groups

AND

One Girls Year groups 7-9 and One Girls Year Groups 10-11,

OR two Girls Year groups 7-9 and no 10+ year groups

OR

One Mixed (2M+2F) Year groups 7-9 and One Mixed Year Groups 10-11,

Should it be necessary to have finals the teams must have the same swimmers as the heats.

Once we have all the school entries we may need to change timings we will inform you via the email confirmation, so please make sure we have the correct email address for your school.

Any schools entering for the first time are also able to win an award for the ‘Best of the New”
